| Taxi Driver is a good comparison. Fucked up for reasons young man goes ape shit and starts killing people. I can't remember if there was any superhero stuff at all in Joker. The whole Gotham/Wayne/Arkham setting was largely irrelevant, and I'm glad Joaquin's clown makeup wasn't absurdly OTT as previous joker outings.
