I still don't have a graphics tablet and I want one.

The Huion Inspiroy H1161 is the cheapest Huion that isn't out of stock, (excluding the H640P which doesn't have tilt support).

Is spending £70 on one a massive mistake or the best thing I could possibly do?

I have the H610P. It's really nice (no tilt, though), probably not as nice as a wacom but it was fairly cheap. Don't know about  newer ones but with mine there was an issue with drivers, I think you had to install the ones from their website before attaching anything or it didn't work or something like that. Definitely not use the ones on the included CD (as if anyone has a CD drive anymore anyway...)

I read something saying install the drivers first or it'll act in mobile phone mode (i.e. only 40% region), so I'll definitely do that.

Also, I do still have a DVD drive, though I can't remember last time I put anything in it.

Haven't used mine in 2 years ( :$ ) but plugged it in today and it works! Installed drivers from huion site and was good to go.

Not sure if a tablet is any good for cad, but will have a proper play tomorrow (NJ) and see if I can set up the buttons in a sensible fashion to make it usable.

When I was doing 3d stuffs, a tablet (even a wacom 4x6") was great for building the spline models.

What sort of 3D? I can see it being ace for direct modelling like Blender etc., but CAD is very keyboard/number driven. Organic shapes are much less common.

Drill Your Own Hole, the first album by the awesome Gaye Bykers on Acid. In some lists as the best album gimmick ever, the first thousand pressings allegedly didn't have a hole in the centre. It wasn't exactly true - they just didn't have holes in the label. That there is an ultra-rare 'undrilled' copy.

That'd take far more effort than I'm willing to spend.

If you're lucky I'll take some unboxing photos. :P

Part of me is wondering how beneficial I'll find it - I'm probably comfortable enough with a mouse to not see accuracy benefits, but being able to vary pressure should be useful enough that I use it for layer masks at least every other month. :)

Plus it'll allow me to dabble with drawing/painting, without worrying about having/wasting physical materials. Hopefully that lasts beyond the first fortnight...

Doubt it - there must be plenty more examples in the archives.

(But someone else will have to look; I'm off to wrestle with Python.)
