You're gonna have to go back to basics.

A daguerreotype of your work space please.

Quote: From the daguerrotype wiki

"To make the image, a daguerrotypist would polish a sheet of silver-plated copper to a mirror finish, treat it with fumes that made its surface light sensitive, expose it in a camera for as long as was judged to be necessary, which could be as little as a few seconds for brightly sunlit subjects or much longer with less intense lighting; make the resulting latent image on it visible by fuming it with mercury vapor; remove its sensitivity to light by liquid chemical treatment, rinse and dry it, then seal the easily marred result behind glass in a protective enclosure".

/Everyone's/ got that equipment lying around the house. Surely?

Chair has a history: It was originally my bosses chair, she got it from her father who ran a lumber supply store Piercey's and later became a big-time developer.

Leather upholstery stuffed with horsehair, still has the original casters and they even roll (how many plastic shite chairs can claim that?).

I reckon it might be 1920s-30s vintage judging by the style.

Thanks Xen. That looks more or less identical to what I remember 10(?) years ago, except the keyboard is smaller and potentially looks less full of ash? But surely not!

If anyone just happens to have that stuff lying around it'd be Xen.

I don't have daguerrotype materials, but I have recently started playing with cyanotype.

Here is mine. Ikea desk and chair. Tidy, because I'm a clean freak and can't be dealing with messy desks.

There are a few things hidden behind the Macbook, but not much and there are pictures hung up around the room, just not behind my monitors

I'm transitioning to pipe-smoking and a side effect is less ash. Which is great. Keyboards last me more than 2 weeks.

It's a really nice keyboard though. With Alps switches. Which are fucking lovely.

I'm liking your wall art there. :)

Why the fire extinguisher though?

I didn't know that was a thing, so just been reading up on it.

How've you found it, and have you got any finished pictures?

I imagine, and this might be completely wrong, that it's used for extinguishing fires.

(I also imagine it's entirely possible that he nicked it from a pub, and it expired in 2003.)

But there's not a fire there, so completely surplus to requirements.

Here's mine. Helps that I already have my own office/man-cave and have been working from home for several years already.
