What Alex did is amazing, and I enjoyed watching him climbing, but when you're hearing that it's BAFTA nominated and being shown in cinemas, that sets high expectations - I watch very few documentaries so perhaps it really is much better than most.

I enjoyed it a lot for a few reasons...
- I've been to Yosemite, that climb is properly massive. So much so you can't really comprehend how high it is even standing in front of it. I also like seeing places I've been on stuff like that, not sure why.

- Quite voyeuristic, but I felt it documented his relationships quite well, or more so his emotional difficulties.

Yeah, that's a good point - it could have easily dehumanised/deified him, but it kept him relatable and grounded.

Two other Yosemite-based climbing films are The Dawn Wall and Valley Uprising, I've been told they are different but both worth watching.
