Maybe Apple should make gaming mouses. Or maybe not, cos they'd ruin them too.

My slightly pricey mouse arrived today and it is lovely. Understated design, nothing like a lot of gaming mice. Wireless performace is flawless. No noticeable latency at all, easily beats my wired mouse. Lovely buttons, scroll wheel feels nice and clicks nicely without scrolling.

It's ambidextrous, side buttons on each side are optional. I'm gonna try it with the right side ones in to see if I can use them without pressing them while holding the mouse. The DPI switch button is on the bottom, which some won't like, but I never used it on my MX518. And it's only 80g.l (26g lighter than my MX518)

I'm now sold on wireless. Wasn't expecting it to be as good as wired, but don't want to go back now.

Learning PHP in Uni. Undergrads are doing C#/.Net but we get Laravel instead.

Haha, I've also scraped my wife on something on my desk and thought my computer was making funny noises :)

At least you didn't do it in the previous post too! Would have been way worse with "I'm now sold on wifeless" added. :/

Didn't you already learn C#, or am I getting confused with someone else?

It'd be better if mouse companies would forget about calling them "gaming" mouses and just make good mouses that work for gamer AND power users, and most specifically forget about the "MMO" bollocks where they cram a keypad on the side with no thought for ergonomics or mental capacities.

Maybe I should start going to hardware trade shows and bugging every rep from every company until they either listen to me and/or get a restraining order...

I'd definitely be sold on wifeless :D

This is sold as a gaming mouse, probably why it's so expensive, but is great for general use too. Obviously has a bit of RGB lighting to make gamers happy.

Yes I did C#. Which helped a lot for learning Java. Only problem after doing so much C#/Java, I don't get on with dynamically typed languages.

I actually like them. The forward button is right under by my thumb and the back button is only a little stretch away.

I've got buttons on the right side too now. They are not so easy to use. If I hold the mouse in a certain way I can press the forward (currently DPI) button with the inside of my next-to-my-pinky finger. The back button (show desktop) is not so easy to press though. Not that that is really what they are for anyway, they're for switching between left and right handed ambidextrousness.

I got one of these ambidextrous mice, which is great for my left handedness. It's quite light and responsive and has the right amount of buttons without being stupid.

what does the dpi button do? It looks like it would be hard for me to hold the mouse without accidentally toggling the buttons, like how I'm forever hitting the cAPS LOCK by mistake (I actually disabled it on my mac kb at work)

Heh, whereas I get really frustrated with Java insisting I tell it shit it already knows and/or doesn't need to know.

If C#/Java allowed you to start with basic structures whilst doing rapid prototyping/iterations, and then later solidify them into appropriate objects/classes they'd be far more useful.

DPI buttons are for changing cursor sensitivity (speed) without going into software - usually between a few customisable presets.

So if you do graphics and want to switch from regular/high setting to a lower setting for greater control.

Also handy when watching videos, you can set it to super low so that knocking the desk doesn't make the mouse move slightly and bring up the control panel.

Or if you need to let one of those people that can't use a mouse without moving their hand and arm loads use it.

Wow, that's an interesting/ugly looking thing :D It says 12 buttons on that Amazon page but I can only count 10. Which 2 am I missing?

It changes the DPI. Currently 1200/2500. The other side was set to back/forward too, but I changed it to DPI. There is also a DPI button on the bottom of the mouse. Not the most useful place. I don't really change DPI though so might change the side button to something more useful.

How do you accidentally press THE CAPS BUTTON!? Are Mac keyboards shit?

Oh yeah, with Java you definitely need to type lots more to do things than other languages. I do like some of the features of other languages that make it quicker to do things.

One of the systems I support in work uses Ruby on Rails for the front end. I was trying to change something on the controller to sort some data returned to the browser and just couldn't work out the data type that was being returned from the HTTP call to a back end. Maybe just my lack of experience with Ruby, but at least Java would specify the type and make it easier to work out what's going on.

Sometimes I forget I can't touch-type.
