I fully expected this to be a brainless blockbuster, with loads of action, implausible cgi monsters, and hammy performances. It's all of that, and much, much more...

Set in the immediate aftermath of the Vietnam War, and the war, and USian culture of that era, are thematic drivers of the design, cinematography, soundtrack, and even the plot. Apocalypse Now, and the early Godzilla/Gojira (etc) series are extensively quoted.

Strangely, this is not overdone, but adds an entirely unexpected gravitas to the otherwise typical, idiotic blockbuster enterprise (well, the denouement is overdone, but at least doesn't overshadow the rest).

The cgi monsters are convincingly rendered and biologically impocerous. The original King Kong movie scenario is barely touched upon, if not inverted. All in all, it pummels the later Jurassic Park sequels into the swamp.

Sounds as though he's channeling Roald Dahl or L Frank Baum...

I've no idea why you don't have sound but it goes something like this:

Dorothy: If you were king you wouldn't be afraid of anything?
Lion: Not Nobody; not nohow.
Iron Man: Not even a rhinoceros?
Lion: Impocerus! (or possibly imposserus).

Deliberate phishing quote from the movie of Doctor Doolittle, I think. Clever bugger, that Smiffy.

Is it also in Doolittle, cause I lifted it from Oz like Williama sez.

I lied.  I went back & checked.  It's in 'Talk to the Animals' (or rather, it isn't).  What I was half-remembering was:
Quote:
If people asked us, can you speak in rhinoceros,  We'd say, "Of courserous, can't you?"

Mozilla recently broke Firefox's audio on all Linuxes without Pulse Audio installed and configured, which has pissed off a lot of people.

But in this case it's that specific video running in Chrome on Windows which is mute.
