Who has been to Boston? The one in the US, not Lincolnshire.
What is good?

I'm going there in September if that's any help. At that time, what will be good is this wedding I've been invited to.

I know people who might know some good answers, I will ask.

I went to college there ~40-years ago for one year, also had friends who lived near there that I visited more recently. Harvard's art museums, MFA, NE Aquarium, Isabella Stewart Gardiner Museum*, Fenway Park (Red Sox baseball)*, yeah loads of stuff to see. Driving is an absolute nightmare, transit's ok.

(just want to add: I puked all over the NE Aquarium, which they presumably will have cleaned up for your visit)

You didn't give much warning! I will see the Boston expert (relative to me) tomorrow to ask.

First proper day, plenty of walking. Went up prudential Tower, went to various bars, partly because it rained. Nice wander around Boston Public Garden and Boston Common.

2nd day was more wandering, up to the harbour then down to Fenway Park to have a look. Turns out there was a Country and Western street party going on. Two people happened to have spare tickets and we got in for free. There certainly was a stereotype of people there!

After that headed up to the White Mountain area. Was supposed to drive up Mount Washington but the weather wasn't suitable. Instead paid more for a tour bus to the top, which halfway up was told it can't go to the top. Wasted bit of time and money there.

One night stay in Bangor, Maine. With a detour via the Ben and Jerry's factory in Vermont.

Now in Bar Harbour and seeing some of Acadia National Park today.

Mt. Desert is awesome (and unfortunately very crowded during summer)! I lived very near there for several years on two separate occasions, once in Ellsworth when very young and second time in Surry after college. I spent a lot of time on the island. Try to fit in Asticou Thuya Gardens if you can. I'd rate it as the best place on the island.
