Alt title: "What Celebrities Have You Met And Did They Grope You And/Or Masturbate On You"

Haven't met any celebrities but it has been known for a long time that in both the music and movie industry you have to be one of the two religions allowed in Hollywood, and abuse of women in those industries has been wide spread for as long as the entertainment industry has been around.

Look at the Kesha fight with sony - she can't even get the courts to force sony to change her manager to "anyone else but this guy".  In any other industry even the hint of that sort of stuff would be an easy win lawsuit.

Listen to the Heart song "Barracuda".  Pretty obvious what she is talking about.

Take it to the celebs your family have met thread! I agree you are nice though. Everyone gets to set their own fame levels for what qualifies, this is a happy thread.

I met Mick Fleetwood from Fleetwood Mac, I had no clue who he was and made him push his own car onto a transport trailer when he said it would run long enough to load itself and it didn't run at all.

It was a small 2 seater volvo and I have nothing bad to say about him, there was no "do you know who I am" attitude at all, just got on with it.

I’ve not met anyone famous, except, years ago, I was in a video store to rent a VHS tape and the TV weatherman, who was pretty well known in these parts, and a bit elderly at the time,  walked in (the other Canadian on here might remember him – Dave Devall). The person with me said “how’s the weather Dave”, and Dave told us to “Fuck off”.

That's all I got  (fail)

Better than our local famous weatherman (Fred Talbot), he's now in prison for indecent assault against children.

Yeah I remember his face after watching this. There was also a CTV news anchor we called "Steve Couchpotato", but I can't remember his real last name now.

Lol, I googled "news anchor Steve Couchpotato" but no luck.  Maybe you remember Tom Clark - I think he is still on CTV. When he first started on the air, he used to stumble over his words so we used to call him Clom Tark. Well, actually we still do.  :D

Yeah it's Steve Murphy who is still with CTV. We knew* him when he was an anchor at ATV back east. We pretty much stopped watching tv news (or anything) after moving up here ~12 years ago so don't really know Tom Clark.

* er, watched him on tv

Just remembered that my wife's cousin, Nick Doody is kinda almost famous. He's a comedian living in London and regularly does the Edinburgh Fringe. He's written for 8 out of 10 Cats, Have I Got News For You (if I'm remembering rightly), lots of radio like The Now Show, and has a few of his live shows on YouTube.

I don't get to see him that much, but he's usually present for family events n'that.

It was a long time ago, but I think he was quite a nice chap. He was sharing a venue in the Fringe with some other performers I know.

Met loads of famous folk over the years at the Fringe, both from helping out with shows and just generally being out and about.

Some that stand out:

Arthur Smith - mainly see him walking down the street in a hurry. Normally I'm pissed and manage a "Oi that's Arthur Shmithsh!" and always get's a friendly hello and a wave in return.

Rich Hall/Ottis Lee Crenshaw - Amazing musician friend (same as venue sharer with Nick Doody) is an occasional part of the Ottis Lee Crenshaw band, met Rich Hall a few times and always seems really nice and down to earth. And funny.

Frank Skinner - odious little weasel-faced arrogant prick.

Mike out of Casualty - sat at the next table to him George Square. Didn't actually meet him as I managed to resist the urge to go and ask him about this rash.

Norman Lovett - The best of the Hollys off of Red Dwaf. He did a free stand up show, don't remember much of the show (may have been drunk...) but chatted with him after and he was lovely. Apparently I made him say that "they're all dead, Dave", but I honestly don't remember. Think he might live in Edinburgh, or so someone told me once.

Ben Dover - yes, /that/ Ben Dover, me and a mate went to a comedy review show. We had a big table to ourselves at the back, and this random guy came in and asked if he could share it. Had a bit of a laugh and a chat over a couple of beers and then the show started. The compere announced the first act, pornographic legend Ben Dover, and this guy stands up and get's on stage. Fucking weird! Don't remember his set being particularly funny, there's only so many jokes about shagging loadsa birds. He came back and sat with us after his set, and at the end of the show we shook hands and went our separate ways - him presumably to his next conquest, and me to plunge my hand in the nearest bucket of bleach.

Non-Fringe stuff

Chris Hadfield - at a book signing, seemed nice enough but didn't like his book on the radio so haven't actually read the real copy.

Loads of bands and musicians at Whitby Goth Weekend (mate runs the stage production side of things, gets us tripple-A crew passes every year) although probably not that famous in most circles (a few '80s 'legends' creep up from time to time, though), and one year I was asked to give Voltaire a a lift to Glasgow for his next show. I declined on account of being drunk. I'm starting to notice a pattern here...

Ooh ooh, just remembered another one.

Amanda Fucking Palmer and her husband, Neil Gaiman.

I got AFP to give me a fake snog on the grounds that it would really piss off my ex-wife (who was a massive AFP fan, and also AFP's support act for her gig the following night).

Neil seemed to think it was brilliant. I hope. He may kill me.

Excuse the awful photo proof, I was a little drunk...

Ooh, I also met two of the Ice Road Truckers.

Alex the Bear was lovely.

Lisa was grumpy and really seemed like she didn't want to be there.

Wasn't drunk for this one*!
