Microsoft just announced Windows Holographic with HoloLens.  I like this idea better than the approach Oculous and the others are taking.  The main point for me was the unit is self contained.  It doesn't need to be tethered to a phone or PC or have any wires.  Although they didn't say how battery life is.  They also said it will be released within the Windows 10 timeframe, but who knows what that really means?  Anyway, what do you think?

It's a totally different thing to the Rift, I thought. It's more of a HUD than a full-immersion headset. Hopefully it'll work well, because it does look quite cool, but I'd want to wait to see what people can persuade it to do.

I like it. Well, the theory of it anyway. The Oculus Rift is very cool, but I find the idea of people strapped into total immersion headsets utterly unnerving. This hybrid of real life and augmented idea sits much better with me, but that might just be me being a technophobe.

I can't wait to try one in real life.

Hello! Long time no see. I saw a post on a site by a guy named 'beseku' and thought "Hey, he was on teh! Wow, I haven't been there in forever". So here I am.

Sadly, he isn't. But still.

Yeah, not seen him on here for a long time either, though he's on Twitter and I follow him on that so I still feel like we're connected. Although I just checked and he doesn't follow me, the scumbag  :-@

(Ooh, Beehive has a mobile view now. *Nice*)

NYC is indeed fun! Been here around six years now, so it's all quite normal now. My one regret is that I've never lived in London - if I'd known I was moving to NYC a year in advance I would have packed my bags for London, but alas I didn't have that notice.

Are you still in London? Doing.. football display things, if I recall?

Yeah still in London. Still doing football (and other sports but mostly football) display things most of the time. I spawned a sprog so I am on hiatus from actually taking advantage of many London things until he's big enough to join in a bit more.

Six years is a good while, is there any awkwardness with work permits and whatnot?

Is this some sort of oldies-week or something? First Pete, now yourself!

All we need now is for Greg and Trig to show up with a picnic blanket and it'll be just like old times :)

Simon? Are they drawrings of Pony Porn? I don't get that one, yet we rarely get the kink of someone else - seems weird to another.

Simon Roberts. Did arty stuff in Photoshop. And then there was the My Little Ponies modelled on John Holmes. I didn't keep any of the images, but someone here might have some (Xen?).

Is that the same guy Mike Meyers (SNL) did a character skit on, called Simon? Must be.
