I have had one of these for years at my house and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with anything like it or hacking things of this nature?  What I'd like to do is to be able to use it with my home automation setup.  There are ways to /somewhat/ incorporate it, but that would also take some hacks to make it useful.  For example I can make the system email me when it detects motion and the area you want to detect the motion can be setup.  But really what I want to be able to do is send me a picture or pop the video feed up on my TV when someone rings the door bell.

Any thoughts?  There are ways to convert the analog cameras over to IP cameras but it's not a cheap option.

What is that box able to do? It obviously does the analogue to digital conversion to be able to record.

It records and is accessible from a browser. But it uses an Active X plug-in for that. It can also email.
