Is there a way to control overscan settings in 'nix?  When I pick 720p or 1080p the image is nice and pretty, except all the menus and taskbars are off the screen.  It makes it hard to do much because I suck at guessing!

This is when hooked up to my TV, I haven't tried a real monitor yet.  The TV has no overscan controls in its menu.

Everything I read seems to indicate it's a setting in the TV.  Since this is a cheap TV and I can't find the remote I guess I'll try a monitor!

I assume this is for the ODROID-C1?

I doubt the config is the same but with the Raspberry Pi these things are all controlled by the /boot/config.txt file (http://elinux.org/RPiconfig). Is there something similar to play with?

From the TV side, and only if your TV supports it, the aspect ratio to use for no overscan is usually labelled something like:

Just, 1:1, Pixel Direct
And sometimes these modes are only possible on a "DVI" or "PC" labelled input.

Edit: Looks like boot.ini might eventually be useful - http://odroid.com/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=en:c1_tips#how_to_change_u-boot_configuration_by_bootini

Yup, been messing with boot.ini, but only to set the resolution when I pissed it up. I can't see where overscan can be set in it.  But I'll have a look at the link you provided.

Thanks!

That's my guess too.  Fuck it, I'll just go get a monitor from the garage.  I'm going to want to test Android on it anyway.  It runs Ubuntu very nicely I will say!  I was also very surprised in how quickly it arrived.  I'd say if I can get as familiar with this as I did with the Pi that I'll be getting these from now on.

You should definitely try Xbmc on it and see if it's any more stable Han on a Pi (particularly with regard to networking). And if it is, you should buy me one for Xmas.

I will as soon as you play the game I told you about!

There is an option to install XBMC right from a script similar to raspi-config.  I'd say it runs it very well.  I can't really test it other than to install it and boot it because I've moved everything over to Plex.

I'd ignore that. That's just for the menu interface. Obviously not great but doesn't matter if the video is accelerated.

Though the video stats show the FPS is lower than the framerate for the video, that's not a good sign.

I must be strange, it seemed fine to me at that frame rate.  It's not the fastest thing I've ever used but certainly much faster than the Pi.  I opened Kodi, wtf is that name anyway? and it locked up the whole machine.  Kodi is still beta right?  That could be some of it.  I've moved to Plex, at least it's not a stupid kids toy name or a fucking dog or something.

Anyway, for the price of a Pi it's decent, but not earth shattering.

Kodi is the same as Xbmc, isn't it? Just a new name.

Yep, I just think they've done the rename for their new release (which is still in Beta/RC stage)

I think it was like that at one point. But it seems like they now do a major release with a couple of point releases. Currently on 13.2 with the betas/RCs being for 14.
