Just noticed in the last few weeks an outbreak of sites with embedded ads or feeble 'malware' type attempts. I'm scrolling down a page and suddenly I'm directed to some celebrity movie-gossip site or similar. Quite often there'll be a whole-page pop-up to the effect that my 'browser is out of date'.

Anybody else notice it?

Maybe I'm just spending too much time on facebook.

If it's happening on Facebook then you've almost certainly got a nasty installed. Time for some anti-malware.

Agreed!  Something is running on the computer that's doing that, usually not on the webpage.

People who do this type of shit are scum.  We should have some type of punishment for these people.  I vote for putting them in a big pit, giving them a wooden sword and releasing a grizzly bear.  GoT Style

Nothing nasty on my computer. Regular virus and malware scans including today. Even so I downloaded and tried a couple of additional ones - both came up clean.

I'm having problems attaching a link!

How about running TDSSKiller and see if you have a rootkit.

Things like this are why we screen each and every advert we run to make sure they're safe. We want our visitors to be able to white list our sites without fear of picking up anything nasty or annoying.

We also don't allow auto-popups or popunders. If you don't click on a banner to open a new window yourself, it just sits there for a minute, then the next banner in the rotation shows up.

I wish more websites would take the time to screen what they show. Many of them don't seem to take the safety of their visitors very seriously. They just want money no matter what happens.

A lot of our members use Malwarebytes.
