Can anyone recommend a 'nix that would work well on a laptop that also has a touchscreen?  The Google-Fu is failing to find any solid recommendations.

Ta!

You're not the first person to tell me that!  I don't think I'd like that.

I don't think that there are any touch-centric distros as such (Android aside). Wouldn't really make much sense since it's just a case of supporting the hardware and doing sommat with the inputs, which is between the kernel and the window manager. Not much for a distro to do there really (nor much call for it).

Unity, Gnome3 and KDE4 all attempt to support touch but I think only KDE has done a decent job of it so far with Plasma Active.

Don't think any of them have multitouch yet which is kinda a big deal.

Do you make a lot of use of the touchscreen with Windows 8?

Nice one!  It looks like Active 3 supports multi-touch.

I'd say very little, but I like having the option.

Cool cool. I've not tried it but everyone who does seems to love it.

It's kinda similar to the KDE netbook interface which I do like a lot.

I downloaded the thumb drive version. Going to try it later tonight.

I'm going to (eventually) try that on my nexus 7. Let me know how it works out.

Mint's KDE version works pretty good on my XPS 12.  The touchscreen works at least, but the default install isn't optimized for touch.  I am going to try to install the Active stuff on it and see how that goes.

One issue I had with it is/was the touchpad.  It's seen as a mouse instead of touchpad so none of the advanced features are available.  It's an odd brand of pad so I'm not sure how to get it working.  I guess I'll just have to fiddle with it.
