Hello All

I am building a test domain and I need a basic and free mail server that can run on Linux or Windows (windows preferred)

Has anyone got any suggestions?

Cheers in advance

I've used sendmail which seems to be the default smtp server for most linux distros, but only to facilitate testing php scripts, not as a full-blown mail server setup. Also tried postfix but it seemed like a more finicky setup (sendmail worked out of the box).

I use this one on my personal servers.  Exchange at work.  I guess it depends on what you want to do, if it's just to test out the first should be fine.

I finally settled on this little number

http://www.hmailserver.com/

Very simple to install and works a treat, it also integrates into an AD domain!
