So then, all you TFT poofs, benders and queers.
How much have you saved on your electricity bill?

Iv swicthed from 550W PSU to 300W PSU, removed AGP x8 ATI X800GTO with molex connection and ditched 512mb RAM,.. /and/ also swicthed from PC speakers to Headphones.
Along with replacing Sony DVD Player for a Playstation 2.
No more PC gaming, so its PC (PC case and 17" CRT monitor) OFF and
21" CRT color TV and PS 2 ON.

Im saving £4 a month.

A 550 watt PSU doesn't actually use less power than a 300 watt PSU believe it or not. It's simply /capable/ of providing more power.

Providing less power = using less power.
Its better to be sound that incompetant with PSUs.
But this 300W is not using too much power.

no no no, a 500w PSU is able to provide up to 500w of power, your PC will only draw as much power as it needs

if the components of your PC need 250w to run they'll only use 250w, dosn't make a jot of difference if it comes from a 300w or 500w PSU

A 300W PSU working near 300W will actually use more power than a 500W PSU delivering the same power, typically the eficiency of a PSU gets less the closer to the ultimate limit you run them at.

Looking at some PSU reviews on Tomshardware recently it seems that they are actually more efficient at full load than a medium load and with a light load the efficiency drops off quite a bit with some.

Have a looksee here

I take it all back! I was basing it on the fact that the closer to the limit you push everything the hotter all the components will get and the lesss efficient the PSU is likely to be.

I bet if you masturbated less, you'd need less energy, which means less food and probably a saving of at least £4 a month.

Oops, terribly sorry - didn't mean to insinuate you're a wanker or something - the post was supposed to be in reply to the Trigmeister.

The latter statement I'm prepared to go along with. The former statement is self-evidently bollocks.
