Oh I'm sure it is risky, but they're also finding vulnerabilities in all newer releases, apparently. So there's that.

True enuf.  I don't use it for web surfing for sure, and it's only on for 2-3 hours a week for 99% offline stuff. Otherwise I'm on a very recent linux that I keep up to date.
