So what's your torrent client of choice these days, given that utorrent has been ruined with bloat and adverts?

Or should I just pirate the pro version of utorrent, using the free version of utorrent to get it?

I use an old version of utorrent (1.8.2) because The Box has banned the newer ones.

I just installed uTorrent last night, I haven't noticed any adverts.  But I do block them at my router so that could be why.  I am thinking of installing Transmission on the router as well and just using that with an external drive.

I used to use 1.8.2 but some other private tracker banned it.

I'm using 3.2 build 27886 (no reason for the specific build other than it being what I downloaded a bit back). That works with TheBox fine. I think this is in the Yellow/Warning pile of versions rather than banned like 3.2.2 is.

One thing I hate about the new versions is that uTorrent seems to feel the need to put things in folders when I tell it not to. If a torrent has multiple files I often define the folder/download location myself at the top and it worked fine in the past. Now uTorrent places an extra folder of the name of the torrent in the location I've defined. So I now just copy the name to the label bit and leave the name field empty.

I'm still using uTorrent (recent build, not sure if it's the latest, but I upgrade fairly often). I don't mind the adverts and bloat as it's pretty much click the torrent file and forget anyway.

Although, I am having geek spasms at my upcoming set-up, where uTorrent will get kicked into touch.

The Synology NAS has a torrent client so I'll be using that from Chrimbo onwards, then when I get my XBMC kit set up and running I plan to use CouchPotato and another bit of software that will automatically download films and episodes of TV series as and when they appear as a torrent, depending on specified video quality.

This kind of thing makes me dribble.

I use Deluge. It is a headless torrent client, but comes with a WebUI and there is a traditional desktop client that can connect to the headless service, plus it works with Transdroid on my phone.

Remote torrent management FTW.

I don't understand this. Wasn't absence of bloat the entire point of uTorrent in the first place?

It does seem odd. The addition of a media player of some sort (I think) is stupid. Though it does give you the option to stream before torrents are finished.

Not sure, I was a late adopter of the whole torrenting business and it's the only one I've ever used, works fine so I have no reason to try something else. It's not like the things running all the time anyway. I'm not a big user, just the occasional film and CD.

I've used it since it was a tiny download with no bloat, but yeah, I guess it doesn't matter hugely. It's not like it needs multiple GB of RAM or disk space, and I don't remember it taking particularly long to load. I just loaded it now on my Mac and it took about 3 seconds, although that's mostly because I currently have almost no free RAM.

I am using uTorrent 2.2, with no adblocking thingers, and I can see no adverts or bloat? Or are you sure, thread-starter-who-I-have-forgotten, that you're not just downloading a naughtily-made edition of uTorrent? Or am I special? ^_^
