Hello! Well, I have written a program for Python, and here it is:
http://www.noiseforfree.com/bpython/index.html
(There are screenshots and everything).

It only works on Unix and has the following dependencies:
Pygments
pyparsing

You can apt-get install python-pygments python-pyparsing

Download the tarball, extract and type: "python bpython.py"

I hope someone finds it useful.

Good Morning Mr. Bob

I could set up a unix environment, learn python, install your program - taking care to satisfy the dependencies - and enjoy many fruitful hours.

I'm reluctant to start, however, without knowing what it does.

What does it do Bob?

How can you have written a Python program that only works on Unix?

One of us is an idiot. If it's me, I apologise. If, as I suspect, it's you, I forgive you.

I know, I'm working on that, there are a few unexpected things turning up, as they do.

And, Rendle, or whoever it was, Python is cross-platform, but that doesn't mean all programs you write for it will be. I tried getting this to work with wcurses, but wcurses sucks a lot and I have no interest in Windows anyway.

And to whoever it was asking what it does, click on the link and take a look, you lazy bastards.

Yeah, it's all well and good hurling the abuse about AFTER you've added something on the link to explain what it does.

Some of us had faith in you. Some of us followed the link when you first posted it. Some of us were willing to give YOU the benefit of the doubt. "That Bob Farrell," we thought to ourselves, "He's a good sort, bright boy, generous friend, he wouldn't give us a bum steer. It must be that I'm too thick to work out what this does from some screen dumps of a load of scribble."

Well, it seems we're nothing but lazy bastards after all :C

Well, I followed the link too. What part of "bpython is a fancy interface to the Python interpreter for Unix-like operating systems .... It has the following features: [list]" did you have difficulty with?

Well, basically, that it wasn't there when I looked - that made it quite difficult to read. There was a blank(ish) page with one link to a download (I think) and another to some screen dumps.

Hmmm, odd. It was there when I looked, which was after Kenny replied to Bob (#5), but before Bob replied to Kenny (#6).

Which was 2 hours after I replied to Bob #2. Which I think you'll agree was ample time for him to have slipped unnoticed out of the party, changed into the gimp suit and given Akela a seeing to, run to the orphanage and committed the murder, caught the ferry back to Weymouth, altered the web page and then sneaked back into the party via the back passage with no one the wiser (except for the 1st Jersey scout pack)

If that took him anything less than 2 /weeks/ then I'd say someone's been tampering with his weed :Y

I will have you know that it would not have been possible for me to carry out such vile acts as you described in such a short amount of time as I have a keyboard disability:

Any Peter Kay is too much Peter Kay.

Ergh, just wrote that name twice. Must go and have a scalding hot shower.

Not that it matters. The world is ending soon anyway.

It's not useful for me. Write me a program I can use, you lazy bastard

I was just being contrary, there. It actually looks quite useful. Sort of like SLIME for Python, only you've just started it now so it's not nearly as awesome or feature complete. And anyway, it's Python not Lisp so it will never be as awesome.
