We saw the original theatrical release at the cinema, and (ISTR) again on a shitty tv quite a while ago. Re-watched it yesterday (streamed) on the big -ish flat screen... Don't seem to be any prior reviews here.
An engaging-enough and competent job by Neil Jordan and the cast, very far from their best work (very, very far). Maybe the standout here is the hairdresser -- Bandero's to die for Zuck/Cher mullet, Dunst's golden Shirley Temple locks.
Reads as a standard, big budget Hollywood 90s take on a 90s bestseller, at its core uninspired and inauthentic.
