Hobnobs :@

Hobnobs used to come in cylindrical 300g packets of 20 biscuits for £1.20 and it was one of the few things in the world one didn't have to worry about.

Now McVitie has decided to use packets that do not stand up and there's only 17 biscuits.

Maybe oat or wheat prices have gone up or something, but who the hell comes up with the idea of putting a prime number of anything in a packet!?

Ironic that they call that "Value Engineering"  XD

Why is that ironic?

Also, just when you thought it couldn't get any worse...

Despite the 45g reduction in biscuits, Tesco have increased prices by 50p, to £1.70 a packet!

Because its not exactly adding much value...?

Don't make me go and look up the definition of "Ironic".

Well I don't know if reducing quantity whilst increasing price qualifies as value engineering? Maybe the shitty packaging is a cheaper material, but there's no indicating of the actual biscuits changing, and there's no presentation of additional function. (There is less function because they can't stand up any more! :@)

Even if it does, I'm not sure dishonest euphemisms count as irony.

Well the description fits, but it's a silly name.

Also, the worst part of this all is the choice of a prime number, and not just that but probably the most annoying prime number too. :@

Chocolate Hobnobs come in packs of 23.

Also twin-packs that are 2x14.

But to make matters worse, this madness appears to have summoned the return of Rendle's favourite comedian. :|

There is a lot of chatter about him all of a sudden. He's going down the "supports a worthy cause" root and nobody knew except, gosh darn, how ever did the news slip out? The man's practically a saint.

His hobnob links go back a while. Presumably whoever he got his material from, or whoever he pays to churn it out now, considers hobnobs an easy shorthand for crumbly biscuits. Annoying though.
