Finally got round to watching this at the weekend.

Quite enjoyed it (if you pretend like it's nothing to do with the Batman universe), thought Joausqjiaiieene Phoenix was absolutely excellent and almost reminded me of Robin Williams at times (when Williams was playing a straight role, anyway).

Watched it the other day. This isn't your usual marvel universe slop, in fact it's really got nothing to do with it except name-checking batman. One of walkeen's (yeah I can't spell it either) best performances.

Batman's DC innit, I don't think they've quite managed to get swallowed up by the Marveldisney juggernaut yet. So a largely terrible set of random very different movies instead a of a largely terrible set of in-universe hyper-controlled very similar movies.

I heard the second one was awful, somehow. This was alright, I can't really stand superhero films but I didn't mind it and I do have time for Joaquin. It would make for a weird double-bill with Taxi Driver, lots reminded me of that.

Taxi Driver is a good comparison. Fucked up for reasons young man goes ape shit and starts killing people. I can't remember if there was any superhero stuff at all in Joker. The whole Gotham/Wayne/Arkham setting was largely irrelevant, and I'm glad Joaquin's clown makeup wasn't absurdly OTT as previous joker outings. The thing about him being a half-brother to Batman and his dad a super big asshole was a revelation to me, but I'm not really up on the whole mythology.
