Camper Van

Should this go in hardware? Probably not, who cares.
Thought I'd start a thread in case anyone is even remotely interested in seeing a project progress.

Tomorrow I collect a Citroen Berlingo van and I'll be converting it into a mini campervan.

Plan is something along the lines of
Solar + electrics
Soundproof and insulate
Carpet lined walls
Sofas/beds
Storage
Cushions

Then take it places

How will you paint it?

My word.
It is currently red. It will likely be staying red.

Red works.

and internet. Can't be travelling all over the place without 30 moments in Netflix movies that made audiences leave (number 7 made me barf).

There will be some tech. Just not sure to what extent yet.

Heh. They look quite small, and I don't remember you being a hobbit, so I'm curious how you'll make things fit.

Yeah, it'll be a bit of a challenge but I'm fairly sure (or hopeful) I can make it work with a bit of imaginative design.

Am I mistaken or did Stevie G do something along these lines once? He was gonna actually live in it, possibly. And maybe didn’t get further than plans. Anyway. A Berlingo sounds cozy. You should have a drone hatch in the roof, I reckon.

I think your Teh memory is better than mine!

Did you take possession of the van? For proper project progress tracking, we need to see pictures of the virgin van, inside and out.

I did indeed. I shall post some in a moment.

One discovery I have made is that the driver's seat can fold fully. I thought it was just the two passenger seats that folded. This gives a potentially longer bed area.

What's with the woodwork in the back?

Ply lining. Common for vans over here to have a plywood lining protection. Especially if you're carrying messy stuff.

Might have to get a Jess for the van.

Are you going to rip it out, or just glue carpet on it? Also, isn't it illegal to block rear windows?

Not illegal, no requirement for back windows in the UK. Well, certainly not for vans.
But it's the first vehicle I've had without back windows, so I'm now looking into a rear camera linked to a rear view mirror screen.

The plan at the moment is to use some sort of insulation in the cavities (behind side wall ply), then bubble insulation it (like below), then carpet line. But will possibly make use of the ply somehow. Certainly want a solid base, but don't necessarily need the ply on the sides.

Carpet lining something like this - but maybe not the floor.
