Unbelievably basic cheap web hosting me do.

I'm after this for 4 domains that I own. All I actually want is to redirect them to other webpages (bandcamp / soundcloud type stuff) so no requirement beyond a couple of KB, really. The domains are registered / hosted with Vidahost, and they want proper money for a cPanel shared hosting package, which is just silly for this.

What's the cheapest way / cheapest place to do this?

Ta.

You just need 4 static pages with redirects?

Yes. Actually maybe just 3.

Assuming the hosting you have uses Apache Webserver you could just use .htaccess file and redirect using rules.  Be careful NOT to use permanent redirection.  Courtesy of my friend the wannabe webwizard of NYC.

I don't have any hosting at the moment, that's what I'm after. I'll look up "permanent redirection", ta, and find out why and how to avoid it.

$1.23 a month is about £9 a year.

Can do better than that: £5 a year with HostMedia.

If you can be bothered signing up four times, you could probably get their one-domain-only no-monthly-fee plan for 4×£1 setup for what you need.

Permanent redirect is just the status code used - 301 and 308 indicate permanent redirect.

The default is generally 302, which is non-permanent (i.e. re-checked with each request).

A permanent redirect is only as permanent as any caches involved, so not as irreversible as the name might suggest.
