I guess if they stocked everything they'd have no space in the back for decent amounts of the popular stuff. Supply and demand. The more of the popular phones they can have in stock the more money they'll make.

And with the way models change so rapidly anymore I'm sure they don't want to be stuck with old devices.  Most places have to buy inventory from the manufacturers and I doubt the manufacturers will take them back.

Got my latest phone from Carphone Warehouse and found the staff to be knowledgeable about the deals available and more than happy to jumpt through hoops to change to keep my number when I switched from o2 and had no issues juggling the data/calltime numbers around after I found a better deal on their website. Not had a problem with them - I appreciate that some people will have a poor time when dealing with companies like this, and that anyone else's MMV but they're always the comments you hear/read about, it's rare someone will pipe up on an internet forum praising a firm.

How long did it last without the AC adapter plugged in?

Hahaha, not tried that.

I did consider, since it has Apache installed, running it as a web server. With a 32/mb/ CF card 'disk'. Then thought better of it.

I... don't know. Might be able to coax a proper linux install on there. Maybe.

But no, this is just the default OS (Linux kernel + busybox + some graphical shit).

I think this is realistically the most 'recent' thing you can get on there, and even that needs a bit of fucking around: http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/

I was saying there is! Wiki says so, or at least for some models.

Oh :D

If it extends down to my model I might give that a pop one day when I'm incredibly bored.

It's fucking weird using a decide with no net, though. Only ways to get it networked are via USB networking or a CF Wifi card :'D
