Anyone any good at error analysis using differentiation?

I get the -0.17 part, that's easy. But I can't see how they get -0.170199 for the first bit. Perhaps because it's never been explained or covered in any of our lectures :@

It's actually really easy. For the first part work out z(2.99,4.01)-z(3,4) and bob's your uncle. Have you managed the second? Got an answer here if you need it!

Multivariate* calculus** is the flavour of the month unfortunately :(

Is that all it is? Evaluate z at the given values minus the errors? Oh dear, I fail :( It would really help if lecturers had any kind of teaching skills. Or training. 


The second part is easy enough, it's just

dz (delta x) + dz (delta y)
dx             dy

But they never covered the first part. Suppose they expect any old fool to work it out (as you did :D ) :C
