Dr. Watson

This has the potential to be a game changer.

This bit really stuck out to me:

quote:
Over the past two years, IBM’s researchers have shrunk Watson from the size of a master bedroom to a pizza-box-sized server that can fit in any data center.

Is that because it's cloud based? Or are you actually housing all the power of Watson in that pizza sized box? Pretty interesting either way, and I think it will really help the medical profession sort through the gobs of information they are presented with, and hopefully help them make better decisions. Especially after reading this:

quote:
WellPoint’s chief medical officer Samuel Nussbaum said at the press event today that health care pros make accurate treatment decisions in lung cancer cases only 50% of the time.

Heh, I thought this was about the venerable Windows crash reporter. Those were the days...unfortunately.

Coincidentally, Apple's search engine used to be Sherlock.

Conan Doyle's estate oughta license this shit.

It wouldn't surprise me if apple took out a patent on it.

I do seem to recall that it had rounded corners.

Ha! You better be very careful posting it's name then, unless you put a  ™ symbol after it!
