(and, no, I have no vested interest in a fix for any Opera)

Opera (Desktop browser for Windows) is shit.

The installer has the "Set Opera as my default browser" checked by default AND hidden from the user. You have to click Advanced to be able to see it. It even does this when you're upgrading it, which seems to be more frequently than Firefox and Chrome combined at the moment. If Google, Microsoft or Mozilla pulled this trick, you can be sure they'd be shot down for being "bad sports" by the other camp's fanboys.

Once it's installed it sticks shit althrough your Windows Registry at the Machine level that makes software that runs with elevated privilleges think it's your default browser and not whatever you really have.

And it now (recently) includes a fucking Bittorrent client, which it helpfully sets as the default for .torrent files everytime you start it up, unless you go to the trouble of finding out how to disable the blasted thing.

I could keep going, but I won't.

It's had bittorrent for ages (though probably didn't set it as default which may have been your point).

It also has a built in webserver I believe.

There's definitely some Xzibit themed meme going on there. Yo Dawg, I heard you like to browse the net, so I put a web-server in your web-browser, so you can browse the web, whilst you browse the web.

Also I like the idea of Xzibit saying 'whilst' :D

Yep - that just means you can quote the time to fix accurately. :)

So Opera is akin to malware? I'm so happy that I choose Safari, the browser for Steve's bottom.

Not malware, they're just annoyingly egocentric.

An egocentric bottom with much to be egocentric about.

It was, indeed, a rather fine bottom, to be sure.
