I can't help wondering what the problem with just cutting together the different 'segments' would be. If the conversation halts, and you're all "um errr what next? *mumble*", just cut that out and make it sound like the conversation around the first topic ended and the next one started. To the listener it should just sound like you decided to talk about something else now; there's no need to have distinct sections, especially since there's no way to jump directly to them etc. Having segments or sections or whatever is a completely arbitrary thing in a continuous sound file.

I don't think the podcast has to be entirely comprised of realtime conversation. Conversation is great, but couldn't it be the buns in the Scoobysnack around fillings of personal rants, individual TWRs, extracts from Felafel the Cat read by Staev, tracks by Ozzgur & other musicians - the sort of stuff that makes Teh, Teh. Conversation could address those other bits of content or just take its own course.

I'd not even considered that, but now that I do I like the idea of other, non-conversation stuff.

It would work instead of jingles ;-)

As we're now doing this on Thursday has anybody got any idea how to record with multiple people?
The last cast was ok but clipping all individual tracks back together wasn't always easy.

I think he was more looking for recommendations on (free) software that would make the recording. It isn't a new problem, so someone will have solved it already, which is possibly why he asked the question in a forum.

 

Also, why has code for Fozza's signature appeared down there in the Signature box? I'm assuming it'll show up if I press post.

What I mean is, instead of asking a bunch of people who obviously don't know (because they would have volunteered the information already if they did), it would make most sense to locate and ask one of those people that have solved it and ask them whether they have an automated stitching tool, or whether they have a single user recording the conversation, and in either case what tool(s) they recommend.

I don't know what's up with Fozza's sig, but it has "infected" one of my posts before too. :S

Of course you could have just said nothing rather than saying bugger off and look elsewhere. :)

 

There may have been others who have not read through the threads yet who may have seen that post and had an answer or suggestion or even a helpful try looking at x website you might have more luck.

You listen to a dozen different podcasts with multiple people involved - how hard is it to check for details of what those podcasts use?

Saying "I'm going to try and find out what 1up/TWIT/Engadget/etc use" would have indicated that you were open to suggestions but not repeating a request that was already made.

I could have said just fucking google it, but I thought I'd see if I made progress with my ever failing quest to increase brain engagement.
