Free PHP Gallery-me-do

Hello all.

I am looking for a good, free PHP gallery for my site. I was going to do what I've been doing for years: writing my own, then getting bored and failing to maintain it or implement all the features I wanted but I've learned my lessons and I'm happy for somebody else to do the grunt work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

Two big ones are Coppermine or Menalto Gallery, I think.

Gallery3 is pretty good. If you are used to making your own then expect to be very annoyed whatever you choose :(

How simple or advanced do you want it?

Thanks Ant and Steve,

The Menalto gallery (Gallery3 in particular) looks a bit too functional for me.

Ant, what you have there is about right for what I'd be after but with some support for social network sites. Is that something you put together yourself? I have something similar that I wrote a while back which isn't as nice to use, I might just adapt that.

That was actually made by Ian Gunn. There should be a thread on here by me with it from long ago. I'll see if I can find it tomorrow.

What do you mean by "too functional"? :S

Pretty sure there's skins if you mean in terms of looks.

Also, any reason why you're not just going with Flickr/Picasa/etc?

Both of those will have the social stuff built-in.

By "too functional" I mean it is too complex. I only want it to do thumbnailing, folders, and showing file names or descriptions. Preferably in such a way so that it allows for Facebook and Google+ widgets to be added.

I am looking to see what widgets and things Flickr and Picasa do...

Well you did ask in your first post for something with all the features you wanted but hadn't implemented.

Now you're saying you specifically want something lightweight.

Make your mind up! :P

Thanks Ant. I'm going to use Flickr's widgets first, just to get my content up, while looking through that code and seeing what I want to scavenge from it.

Gracias,

No worries, what I've got online is a bit different from the original stuff that Ian Gunn wrote. Changed how things link, menus etc. I also have the actual photos hosted somewhere else which takes a bit of messing about.
