Teh Feel-good Album

I was idly flicking around my iPhone on the way to work this morning looking for feel-good songs, thinking I should make a playlist, and then I thought it would make a good Teh Album project. So, to commemorate me feeling much better now, what's your favourite song that just makes you smile?

I'll kick it off with Don't Stop Me Now by Queen, which is a great happy tune in its own right, but also reminds me of that scene from Shaun of the Dead where they're beating the crap out of the landlord. That made me larf.

The Polyphonic Spree - Light & Day

It always makes me smile when my wife sings along to it.

Jesus. Could you make it any tougher to choose one?

The Divine Comedy - Gin Soaked Boy

And that's almost definitely not the one I meant to choose.

If people want to put links to their songs, I'll do the collating. Someone else can do the artwork, though.

Wooody Wooodpecker by Dan Deacon. I can sort the track out properly for the download if need be.

Turns out my music collection has a lot less happy cheery stuff in it than it does miserable men moaning on about stuff. Shock!

That's a hard one (John).

I toyed with Louis Armstrong's What a Wonderful World and Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's variant on it, the Monkeys' A Little Bit Me, a little Bit You, the Beach Boys' Don't Worry Baby, Derbert McClinton's I'm your Weatherman Bow Wow Wow's I want Candy and the Basement Jaxx Do Your Thing.

But in the end I plumped for Rock Lobster, by the B52s.

I haven't heard that, but the album I do have by them is very cheery. Is it new?

No its an older one. Its from "The Smell of Our Own". Ban Marriage is very cheery too. Both here (scroll down to the album clips):

The Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeff - Summertime

:C

That and Loving Spoonfull (I think?) - Summer in the City. But that's more my lovely-summer-nights-cliff-top-road-driving-song. I tried it the other week in the rain and it felt silly.

Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You.

Well at this time of year anyway. I need to consult my full music collection for others. Pretty sure I've got a feel good playlist stored somewhere.

There's gonna be a fine line between a Feel-good album and a Feel-like-killing-self-plus-taking-many-others-with-you I suspect.

also, where's your feel-good hip-hop track? I haven't thought of one yet, although Masta Killa's "Masta Killa" is a strong contender. Become the teapot.
