It'll be a <gulp> moderate and restrained New Year's Eve for me. Hopefully I can make up for it on New Year's Day with the help of Emirates' lavish free bevvies policy. Last time I flew Emirates I had five of their little stubbies of fizz, if I remember right (which I quite possibly don't).

And a happy New Year to you, Trig, btw. I hope you have a really satisfying wank and a good cathartic cry to follow.

I have no sympathy - we had to drive Edinburgh to London on New Years day. :'(

Not quite as bad, but we have driven from the midlands to Southampton, Crawley, Dunstable, and Liverpool (and back home each time) over Christmas and New Year, and covered about 900 miles.
One thing I will say, is that although traffic has been busy, we've had some of our easiest journeys these last two weeks, whereas I would have expected the M6 in particular on Christmas Eve/Boxing Day to be absolutely full and bogged down with jams. Not sure if its down to the suspension of roadworks or something else, but the journeys haven't been nearly as bad as I thought they would be.

We drove up on xmas eve and barely saw another car on the road (and not just because of the fog), but coming back yesterday was hellish. It took about 2 hours longer than last week.
