... disconnect from NTL in Dec/Jan like planned, there could really be a real possibility I would not get Broadband again..............
...Unless something new was invented or a major turn in technology takes place or something comercially driven happens, I dont know.
The internet isnt going to go away. Are ISPs /really/ gonna up up up speeds? 10meg today, 500meg in 5 years time?

For some reason everyone got suckered onto the internet, throughout the late 90s. God knows why. Did anyone stop to think? Or was it lambs to the slaughter?
Anyways.
Im wasting my time sitting here on the "internet". Stand back and ask yourself what the hell is the "internet" and why do I need it? and mainly, why did I get suckered into using it in the first place? What were you hoping for a miracle in modern technology?

I have two mostly eaten bars of 250g Dairy Milk, one biscuit bits the other crunchie chunks.

I will have eaten them both before the end of the month, and by then I will have to have bought some more or I will not have any.

In also have a couple of mars bars in my bag. I bought them today at the delicatessen on my way back from town which I went to at lunch. I bought four pairs of socks.

Without the Internet, I would never be able to tell that to you, and your life would be poorer. I've spent time without internet access, and I'm able to enjoy it - I don't need the Internet. But when used sensibly it is a wonderous enhancement to our lifes. And the key is sensibly. We both spend more time than we probably should online, and so its value degrades and it might appear to be less useful to you than it truely is. Take a break and spend some time without it, just for a few days. See how you feel.

It's nearly 1am and there's no fucking way I'm going to be up at 6am. Shit. Goodnight.

I need a woman.
I would treat her nice, and shag her to kingdom come all positions.

I wonder if I should get NTL cable TV in June 07, instead of "internet".
Fuck it, I'll wait untill normal TV gets switched off.
That means no TV for free, but on flip side means no more TV tax.

You're wasting your time on your Playstation, too. Face it, it's a distraction, like so many things in life people like.

And yes, my assumption is that eventually connection speeds will get quicker- they'll need to, if TV over broadband etc is going to work. In my apartment block we can get 10Mpbs internet- if you'd told me that two years ago I'd have laughed at you.

In two years you will have 100Mpbs broadband.

But you hate new technology Trig. All this new stuff which wasn't around in the 90s. You keep saying you hate it.

Yes. I stopped, thought, and realised that the Internet provides the capability for me to socialise with friends even when I'm at work, it also provides information, news, music, assistance, entertainment, etc.

The Internet is an international network of computers. I need it for the reasons listed above.

Why do i need it?

I need it to do my degree. If i need to find a certain case or journal article or something, which is something i need to do at least 3/4 times a week, then i can find it online which (usually) takes no more than 5 minutes.

If we didn't have the internet then i'd have to mess about looking through the hard copies in the library, and so would everyone else, so there'd be a queue a mile long and i'd never be able to get any work done.

That's one good reason for the internet right there. All the academic resources you need at your fingertips.

You keep saying that but YOU'RE STILL HERE. You're still using the internet to socialise with people so you can tell them how much you hate the internet.

You could always go down to Leeds for the Christmas meet, seeing as how I can't go and they really need a drunken Scotsman to make it worthwhile.

Your kidding me right?
The only people I meet are the ones from real life, I look at before talking to them.
You know? Looking? Because in the human world looking at someone gives you a chance to assess them.
Ill be fucked if im ever meeting someone from online. You having a laugh?
You know? Choices? I walk in to a meet, I will look. No disrespect I dont like what iv seen from photos. I would never ever hang around with geeks or rock head/goths.

But hey, im here online using this forum ,cause thats the way it goes.
Funny old 21st Century.

I dont meet mates from the internet you spazzy.
I arrange it all in real life.
I aint going to be bored to death by geeks, goths, rockheads, artfags and music heads at a meet.

Anyone like House music?
I only came here in 2001 to get help to build my first PC.

Not at all. I have plenty of real life friends who I socialise with as well. Your problem is that you just can't get it into your thick scull that the Internet is simply a means of communication. There's nothing sad or geeky about socialising with people on the net. What is sad and geeky is halfmost the stuff you keep complaining about.
