Presumably the other party decided to try and get some insurance work done and had taken his registration plate.
When the police went to see my brother they said "were you involved in a minor collision with a X on Y at Z?" and he said "uh... Yeah, but we sorted it out at the scene" they treated it as having admitting failing to report/failing to exchange details.
Must have done their stats some good that week :-|
If no injuries and no backups, it's a no brainer.
But copying a few hundred gig of files is less painful than a bad crash would be - if they'd hit a foot or two to the left ... (erm)
When I spoke to the insurance person they asked if the police had been involved and I said no, and they said it was fine.
I stand corrected, then!
Only ever had one proper crash, it wasn't pleasant. Thankfully only cars were seriously damaged and everyone else healed within a few weeks/months.
That was over 2 years ago now, and the only lasting impact is that I'm far more cautious on single track roads now, and that's definitely a good thing.
Where's picture of Patch's car?

and yet I bet you were the only common factor...
I have lost literally hundreds (a few) save games by not backing them up when I have reinstalled Windows. I also have a folder with backups of saves for games that I never bothered to install again.
Yeah, not a fan of single track roads - there's a short bit near where my sister works including an almost blind bend near a hill junction, which is particularly not nice. One of those places that is better at night because you can at least see the headlights.
Your horn (nj) is your friend on roads like that. Beep that fucker when approaching the bend.
Definitely agree on the night driving point. When I used to drive over the Snake Pass a few times a year it was much better at night. I knew the layout pretty well, so at night it meant I could see where cars were, when normally during the day I wouldn't have a clue. Certainly made overtaking wagons and slow drivers a bit safer.
I have a pickup truck now so I just drive through the fields instead :C
I think that is the law here as well, but if one of the vehicles has over $500.00 damage or any vehicle is not able to be removed from the scene under its own power or if there are serious injuries, the police must be involved or it is an offence.

Not sure Gillian Taylforth would agree.
Sounds like your situation awareness is pretty shit.
