To all the 3D printing capable people here - I've got a question:
Y'know dishwasher cutlery baskets? Well, the base of ours is falling apart. The cutlery compartments have a plastic mesh at the bottom that stops spoons, forks, knives, pizza cutters, whisks, pastry brushes, graters and egg separators from falling through and interfering with the big spinny whoosing water jet thing. :J
Are the plastics used in the printing process up to withstanding the heat and water from continued washing cycles? If so, would someone be up to the task of creating a few small pieces of printed mesh that I can place over the ever increasing holes that let our spoons and knives fall down and interfere with the spinning jet 'o water?
Of course, I'd pay for time/materials/posting.
If it can be done, I'll get measurements etc.
Thanks!
Get measurements and I'll try.
I currently use PLA which probably isn't so great at those temperatures. I do have some ABS that would probably do the job.
Ace biscuits. I'll get it sized up tonight.
Cheers Ant.
I'm also happy to take a pop at it, though I know nothing of the longevity under stress of the plastics involved.
Ah, you're both true gents.
Couldn't get the measurements last night as the dishwasher was already prestacked with dirty implements and I didn't want to get curry sauce on my ruler. It's been on overnight, so I'll be able to get the sizes this evening come tidying up time.
Ye gads, it's shaping up to be a fascinating Friday evening.
I've measured up and I'd need 8 lots of a 40mm x 54mm mesh. The holes would need to be around 2mm square, big enough to let water through, but small enough to hold the cutlery.
So you can sell the other 7 on ebay?
Would you also be able to take a photo of the existing?
Are you hoping to impress someone with 3D printing, or do you have another reason for not just spending £10 on a replacement?
