Today I met Robert Winston, chatted with him, shared a brew & discussed his (1 bagel) rider & the history of advances in detecting insobriety.
He was amiable & gracious, not just with me, but with all the subsequent Courthouse punters who bought his merch. Top guy, by the evidence.

My new gaff - Otley Courthouse Arts Centre - is developed within a Victorian cell-block & Court House (as the name might suggest). During desultory talk with the spectacularly moustached Peer, I mentioned that legend claims our bar was built directly over the painted line that drunks were obliged to walk to determine their sobriety. He observed that science has moved on and that this was probably a good thing.
Sorry, that's a poor anecdote: but at the very least, accurate.
