We just (re)watched this. I think the first and only other time I saw it was on vhs, 15-20 years ago. Mrs.D saw the original release at the theatre.
It has not aged particularly well, certainly not as good as I had remembered it, perhaps because the urban shabbiness of late soviet moscow in winter seems far more mundane and less exotic.
Also, the
score is a pretty terrible and grating pastiche.
Apart from all that, it's still a good story, with quite a good cast and photography.
