Have you thought about maybe supplying donation information too?
If she has a paypal account, or something similar, maybe some of the people here, and at other sites you visit, would be willing to try and help her out.
Just a though that crossed my mind. :)

I figured anyone interested would ask, but paypal, cheque (cleared), bank transfer, postal order, cash by registered/special delivery ~ all acceptable
[edit] hang on ... donation ?

Donation: something people are willing to give to help her reach her goal, and something she doesn't have to worry about paying back to anyone. :)
If you're willing, send me the paypal information, either via pm here or email staff@hanginoutforums.com, and we'll see if we can get something going for her at hof. We might even be able to get something rolling for her on RPGworlds.org. They've got a few phpbb rpgaming forums and chats starting to set up there that might help out.
I'm not promising anything. Understandably, I can't speak for other people. I'm just offering another option to try and get her what she needs.
When does she need the money for her trip?

Presumably in less than a month, or she would've got it out of the long-term account.

but, as above, she has money, just had to give a months notice to get at it
all may well be messed up by the Home Office anyway
(they have her passport and seem unable to return it)
thanks again though

she sent it off in early December, asking permission to marry her Canadian boyfriend
they claim to 'make decisions on 65% of applications within 4 weeks'
she seems to be in the 35% of cases that take forever and a day
So, she phoned them in Feb and said she needs it back, they said "wait 10 days"
after 10 days she phoned again and they said "oh, uh ... maybe another 7 days?"
after 7 days they said "oh, uh ... maybe fax in and ask for it?"
now they just say "oh, uh ..." but won't answer when directly asked if it's lost
oh - and today is "NATIONAL ACTION DAY" - all I know about that is it means they don't answer the phone

I think a lot of government employees the world round must have stock in headache pills, probably why they try cause so many headaches for everyone else.
They sound like the same type of nimrods I had to deal with when we tried get the old lady's car registered. We sent in for a little hatchback. They sent us back a 3/4 ton pickup truck. I still can't figure out how they managed that one. The colors weren't even the same. By the time they finally got everything straightened out, it was almost time to do it all again.
If she can't get her passport suitably straightened out in a workable time frame, is it possible her fiancee can go to her instead?

well, he could stay, and chances are he wouldn't be caught
but if they did happen to catch him they'd kick him out and then he'd be banned from returning

And it seems one thing holds true no matter in what country you find yourself, sooner or later the government is going to bend you over. In most places the bastards won't even be polite enough to say please, thank you, or bring their own damn lube.
Good luck to your daughter and her fiancee. I hope it all works out for them.

he is leaving today, train, plane etc all booked and paid for
so ... her passport turns up this morning!
she is well chuffed to get it back, but she still can't go with him as it's all too late to fix now
though she will be going quite shortly
